About our founder and president, Diane Seago Atkins
My purpose is to share knowledge with others who seek natural ways to improve their quality of life. I am a Holistic Health Practitioner whose ongoing areas of study are Aromatherapy and Chinese Medicine. I say "ongoing" because these fields take a lifetime to experience!
I make aromatherapy products, and I offer bodywork sessions using acupressure and Chakra balancing. I like to use Chinese herbals internally and essential oils externally. As a member of the American Holistic Health Association, I believe that we all have an individual responsibility to learn and to participate in our own health decisions and healing process. In 1998, I received a Master of Arts in Holistic Health Practice from the Creative Health Institute, Tucson, Arizona, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in Holistic Health Practice in 2003. I am a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.
Enough of the serious stuff! I love aromatherapy and have fun creating blends and products that bring joy with their wondrous aromas and are actually good to breathe and put on our skin. The more I study essential oils, the more powerful I see they are. I am always looking for a way to make something natural because so many beauty products are just chemicals and preservatives. How can these be better for us than what occurs naturally on the planet? Essential oils are far more than just lovely aromas; they have been used for several thousand years for their therapeutic properties. I love to cook and am always in the kitchen; and, guess what I use any time I get a burn? A drop of pure Lavender essential oil. . . or a drop of Bergamot with a little carrier oil for any cuts or scratches. Many essential oils are antiseptic or bactericidal.
How do I make the blends? That's the question I receive the most. If you read the lotion descriptions, you will find that a product is often created for an individual before it ever makes the product page. My best work is custom blending with some one or some purpose in mind. Although I study essential oils and have many references, I prefer to select them intuitively first so that I consider the whole person. Then, I check all the oils scientifically for safety and to be sure they are appropriate. On other occasions I just envision what oils I want to use and start blending!
